An Important Question

If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?
Psalm 11:3

An Important Question
The Bible describes the time in which we live as "this present darkness" ( esv), "the evil day" (Eph. 6:13), and "this present evil age" (Gal. 1:4). It is evident that the "course of the world" is under "the prince of the power of the air" (Eph. 2:2). As believers we fully recognize this, not only from such scriptural revelations but also from our own experience and observation from living in this world.

So then it should come as no surprise to us when we see governments adopting wickedness as a political platform, when the "Church" promotes gross iniquity as "inclusiveness," and when society as a general rule calls "evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness" (Isa. 5:20). The Bible itself is attacked in theological institutions. All these things are predictable in an evil world heading toward the great "falling away" (2 Th. 2:3).

Nevertheless, present conditions can cause believers to be discouraged, frustrated, and alarmed. Exasperation about the state of things can push some believers to use means that are not in keeping with the Lord's will. They throw themselves deeply into political activism and fight as soldiers in the "culture wars." However, we are not called to this, our warfare is not according to the "flesh" (2 Cor. 10:3-4).

"If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" Is there anything we can do? The psalm tells us the answer: "The Lord is in His holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven" (Ps. 11:4). This is the same answer that God gave Habakkuk when he expressed similar frustrations with the wickedness round about him (Hab. 2:20). God is in control: "His eyelids test the sons of men" (Ps. 11:4). Let us commit ourselves to Him.

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
