Having Our Eye Upon Christ and His Coming

I pursue, looking towards the goal, for the prize of the calling on high of God in Christ Jesus Our commonwealth has its existence in the heavens, from which also we await the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior.
Philippians 3:14, 20

Having Our Eye Upon Christ and His Coming
A heavenly life will never be found save in one who is in present communion with Christ about the place to which He is leading us. And a heart can never be abidingly in communion with the heart of Christ and be identified with the world that does not know Him. The Holy Spirit bids us keep our eye fixed on Christ, as He is conducting us on to the glory.

Paul wanted the full manifestation of Christ in glory; his eye was directed upward, watching Him in heaven, looking for His coming. Paul had discarded everything that came between him and a risen Christ upon the throne. Paul was going uphill, looking straight up to heaven, living upon the hope of Christ's coming.

Do you and I live in the light of the Lord Jesus Christ's coming at any moment? Is that the hope that sheds light on everything? It is of immense practical comfort, as well as power. If it were always the present object of the heart, how would it be possible to be overcome by the trials and difficulties we have to pass through? He may be coming tonight, or we might have years of trial or of persecution in the wilderness, but in the thought of His coming to fetch us, can we not forget this body of humiliation and these trials until then? If I can calculate on His love all the way, I shall be able to meet every difficulty. Does anyone say, "I know that Christ will come at last to fetch me, but He forgets me in my difficulties now"?

The grand expression of His love is that He will come Himself to fetch us to bring us to His Father's house. No other tomorrow is given us by the Spirit but Christ in heaven, coming to take us up there.

BE TRULY ROOTED

You can overcome the attacks of the devil if you can simply obey God's Word. Before taking on the devil, be sure of your salvation because the salvation of many today is questionable. Many are pretenders and have really never answered the altar call for salvation at any time. At the time they should be answering...More

YOUR FIRST LOVE

As a Christian, your heart ought to be aglow with genuine love for Christ, unless you are not genuinely saved as a result of having not truly repented from your sins even though you have confessed Jesus. At the new birth experience, the Holy Spirit regenerates our spirit and fills it with deep and pure love for...More

Imitation or Genuine?

"All the prophets were prophesying before them. Then Zedekiah said, 'This is what the LORD says' All the prophets were prophesying this as well." - 1 Kings 22:10-12 NASB

Zedekiah understood what it meant to be a prophet. He knew the vocabulary and how to deliver prophecies. In similar ways, others...More
