Psalm 133 (2)—The True Aaron and True Melchizedek

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments.
Psalm 133:1-2

Psalm 133 (2)—The True Aaron and True Melchizedek
In this millennial psalm, we see Aaron presented as a type of the Lord Jesus. In that day He will be King-Priest upon His throne, the true Melchizedek; today by faith we see Him in glory. Aaron and Melchizedek present typical aspects of Christ's priesthood: (1) presently, it is according to the pattern of Aaron, He has gone into the presence of God for us; (2) but in a coming day it will be in visible display according to the order of Melchizedek.

In the description of Aaron presented in this psalm we see his head, his beard, and his garments, which all present to us features of Christ.

His Head—His Majesty: He is crowned with glory and honor. He is "head over all things" and the Assembly is associated with Him as His body (Eph. 1:22). We need to appreciate Christ's headship more than we do; it is the source of nourishment and control of the the Assembly, which is His body.

His Beard—His Manhood: The beard is indicative of manliness; the Lord Jesus was a true dependent Man down here; the incarnation is one of the most wonderful truths of Christianity. But let us never forget that there is a Man in the glory now.

His Garments—His Ministry: The oil descended to the "edge" (or "hem") of Aaron's garments. In type, garments represent one's character and ways. The ministry of the Lord Jesus on earth touched the lowest of people; the garment reached to the ground (Mt. 9:20). His ministry was also characterized by the anointing of the Holy Spirit. May these things characterize us as well!

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
