Not in Vain!

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:58

Not in Vain!
This is encouragement we need as we press on to glory. This is the very last verse of the chapter that begins with a summary of the gospel Paul preached, which emphasized the resurrection of the Lord Jesus after His death and burial. Christianity was a new, different religion in the Roman world of that day. Its teaching about a Jewish Man (as the world would have regarded Him), whose claim to be the Son of God had been rejected by the leaders of His people; whom they had turned over to the Roman authorities to be crucified as a criminal; who had died and was buried, and then after three days had risen from the dead; and had been seen alive on various occasions by many still-living witnesses; and was alive in heaven and coming again to set up a kingdom which would never be overthrown—this would have been preposterous to the average person in those days, and hardly worth believing and committing oneself to!

Resurrection, impossible? No, a fact of vital importance, one that our eternal destiny hangs upon! In those early days of the Christian testimony, God emphasized that it came from Him, and was to be believed, by giving some of its proponents the ability to do miraculous things.

We have the entire Bible to tell us God's plan of salvation and life after salvation, and much more. God still does many miracles in answer to His people's prayers. We often do not give Him credit, but give it to men or to their devices.

Eugene P. Vedder, Jr.
I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today;

I know that He is living, whatever men may say.

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
