Details
Serving the Lord Together (2)—Paul

I have appeared to you to make you a minister and a witness I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you.

Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us now go back and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they are doing" Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brethren to the grace of God.

Acts 26:16-17 NKJV; Acts 15:36, 40 NKJV

Serving the Lord Together (2)—Paul
When Paul, then Saul of Tarsus, a raging persecutor, was nearing Damascus, intending to arrest believers there, the Lord appeared to him and changed his life completely. From then on he devoted his life to serving the Lord his Savior. Let us serve Him also!

The Lord soon made plain what He wanted Saul to do. With the same zeal Saul had vented against Him and those who believed on Him, he was to serve among his people, but more than that, among the nations, and even among kings and men in high places of authority. After Saul served some years in his native Tarsus, Barnabas brought him to Antioch where God had begun a good work among Gentiles as well as Jews. Together with others they taught many people there until the Holy Spirit made clear they should leave and reach out to the nations. Let us obey His leading too!

Barnabas and Saul began this missionary journey, John Mark, the cousin of Barnabas, going along as a helper. They soon met up with opposition and persecution. Paul, the main speaker, even was stoned. God worked, people got saved, assemblies were begun. Back at Antioch men came teaching false doctrine. By God's grace this was corrected at Jerusalem. Let us stand for the truth!

After contention arose Barnabas left with John Mark. Paul's work went on undeterred. Taking Silas, commended by the brethren, he began his second missionary journey. From this point on, the twofold ministry entrusted to Paul—the gospel and the Assembly—is the prime focus of Acts.

YOU CAN BE HIS WITNESS

As a bona fide member of the Kingdom of God, you must be a proof of His power to save. Matthew 1:21 says Jesus shall save His people from sin.

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More

...when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem...
Luke 2:45

We might as well face it, strife has even infiltrated our church life. It is true enough that the Church is now the Church militant. But, as such, its warfare ought to be that of dedication to revealed truth and divine...More
