Honoured by God

Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain about his neck.
Genesis 41:42

Honoured by God
After many sorrowful years, Joseph came to great honour in Egypt. Pharaoh appointed him as ruler over his land. For this purpose, he gave him his signet ring, white clothes and a gold chain.

Joseph represents Christ, whom God honoured greatly after His sufferings and death on the cross. The gifts Joseph received have symbolical significance:

1. The signet ring speaks of His royal glory. God has given Christ the authority to reign over heaven and earth. Therefore, He has placed Him in the highest place at His right hand and clothed Him with authority. Soon the Lord will assume His reign. Then every knee will bow before Him.

2. The garments of fine linen indicate the priestly glory of the Lord Jesus. After His resurrection and ascension, He was welcomed by God as the High Priest. When Christ comes from heaven to earth, He will act as a priest like Melchizedek and distribute blessings from God to the people (Genesis 14:18–19).

3. The gold chain symbolises the judicial glory of the Lord. God has made Him the judge of the living and the dead. He has “given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man” (John 5:27). In the future, the Lord Jesus Christ will bring divine judgment upon all who reject Him.

Today’s reading: 1 Chronicles 24:1-31 · 1 Timothy 2:1-7

When You Have A Vision

I was not disobedient to the vision.' Acts 26:19 NIV

When God gives you a vision for your life, you need to know how to:

(1) Hold it. Your vision is governed by a time frame: If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place.' (Habakkuk 2:3 NLT) Some of us can...More

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (113)

He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, let him follow me; and where I am, there my servant will be also. If anyone serves me, him my Father will honour.
John 12:25.26.
