Small children

I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes.

Unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 11:25; 18:3.

Small children
While out for a walk Gregory, 3 years old, climbed on and walked along a wall that became progressively higher up to its end. Unable to come down alone, Gregory needed my help: he jumped into my arms full of confidence.

Gregory is no longer a small child; he is a grown lad who reasons. One day when he was perched on top of a wall, I held out my arms. He thought it over, assessing the danger and decided not to jump.

If the Bible tells us to be like small children, isn't that an invitation to put our trust in God and what He says? Let us learn to put our confidence in Him, leaving ourselves in His hands! Our reasoning can lead to following our own thoughts and hinders total confidence in what the Bible, the Word of God says.

A characteristic of young children is their dependence. They cannot be independent: they will not survive without the care of their parents or others. Jesus Christ invites us to live with Him, attached and submitting to Him, being dependent on Him. When we read the Bible, He speaks to us; when we pray we speak to Him. Let us maintain this permanent contact!

Finally, little children want to grow up. Our Lord's wish is that our faith will grow and we learn to know Him better, always trusting Him like small children.

Today's reading: Exodus 17:8-16 · Luke 7:36-50

FALSE PROPHETS AND THEIR PROPHECIES-FOOLISH PROPHETS

The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying: Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say unto them that prophesy out of their own heart, Hear ye the word of Jehovah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow after their own spirit, and have seen nothing!...More

EVERYONE NEEDS A MIRACLE

Some years ago, I was invited to be the guest speaker at a garden party in an exclusive, highbrow residential area. Because I arrived at the venue quite early, I was made to sit for a while in the house of my host. The house was an exquisite parade of wealth and splendour. I had never seen such brazen display of...More

FOR CHRIST'S SAKE DON'T!

A negative change is generally abhorred by men. Everyone craves progress. We always desire to keep ascending the ladder of success. No one wants to make a u-turn in the journey of greatness. The greatest journey whose end has the greatest significance is the journey to Heaven. This journey is only made in Jesus...More
