The computer virus

There is none righteous, no, not one, there is none who understands, there is none who seeks after God. There is none who does good, no, not one.
Romans 3:10-12.

The computer virus
The computer, this machine that avidly devours information at a phenomenal speed, analyses it, compares, calculates and displays its results on the spot - who could do without it today? However, if through malevolence a pirate programme is infiltrated, the entire content can be destroyed and the computer no longer obeys its master.

Isn't that an illustration of what man is like? He is God the Creator's masterpiece. He can think, conceive, choose, construct and love. But just like a computer infected with a virus, our inner being is no longer able to produce what pleases God, that is good, true and acceptable; it succumbs to egotism, pride and covetousness. We who were created to serve and honour our Creator have been contaminated by the virus of sin, and God's final judgment is: "There is no difference, for all have sinned" (Romans 3:22.23).

Just as the usefulness of the affected computer cannot be retrieved without the expertise of a competent specialist, the only solution for us sinners consists in recognising ourselves as such and placing ourselves in God's hands. He then grants us new life, that of Jesus Christ.

"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ" (2 Corinthians 5:17.18).

Today's reading: Exodus 31:1-11 · Luke 13:1-9
