God’s creation was colourful...

Hear, you deaf; and look, you blind, that you may see.
Isaiah 42:18.

God's creation was colourful. He could have created everything in black and white, but instead He has given us a multitude of colours to behold. How pleasant is the blue of the sky against white snow-covered slopes! In the spring we rejoice over the varied tender green of the trees and enjoy the vivid yellow and red of the flowers; we wonder at the colourful splendour of the setting sun against the evening sky. These moments call forth joy, gratitude and satisfaction in our hearts.

Sadly, sin has destroyed much in nature; now disease and death reign. Initially everything in creation was perfect; sin did not exist. Don't the colours in nature still give us a hint of its original beauty?

We frequently fail to perceive all this: we have only our own interests in view. As to the beauty in nature and God who created it, we are blind. Blindness in the Bible illustrates people who do not recognise God. When Jesus Christ was here as a Man on earth, He restored or gave sight to several blind persons. And they praised God for it.

Can people today be blind as to God? They can see and enjoy the colours around them, but do not acknowledge them as God's work. God wishes to give us true joy, not merely in the colours of creation. He gave His own Son, Jesus Christ, for us. Do we acknowledge that? Or are we blind to the fact that He died to save us?

Jesus Christ said, "I counsel you to buy from me eye salve, that you may see" (Revelation 3:18).

Today's reading: Exodus 39:22-31 · Luke 18:18-30

HAZARDING LIVES FOR MISSIONS
