In the Lord’s service

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
1 Peter 4:10.

In the Lord's service
Every Christian has received a gracious gift from God according to his or her natural abilities.

One is able to encourage the brethren in the faith by ministering the Word of God understandably. Through God's grace another is in a position to explain difficult passages in the Bible in simple language. A third has the gift of dealing with children and telling them about the Lord Jesus.

The Lord also gives each Christian a definite commission and a field of activity in which he is to serve. The tasks as appointed by divine wisdom are very different. We cannot decide them for ourselves, nor get them from other persons. It is the Lord who gives them to us.

Let us administer the gifts received and fulfil our service faithfully and reliably.

As good stewards we seek first to honour our Lord. We endeavour to be true to Him and His Word. In our service there is nothing better than knowing the satisfaction of our Master.

As good stewards we also think of the spiritual well-being of the believers. We consider how we can best present the Lord Jesus to them and help them to grow in the faith.

As good stewards we are aware of the scope of our ministry. We need to fulfil the requirements without overstepping the mark or interfering in the domain of other fellow-workers.

Today's reading: Jeremiah 3:1-25 · Luke 20:1-8

Two discouraged disciples were reasoning among themselves...

Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory? And having begun from Moses and from all the prophets, He interpreted them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
(Luke 24:26-27)

SPIRITUAL WARFARE I

When we are told to put on the whole armour of God, one thing becomes clear instantly. This is the fact that there is a God. We cannot be talking of the armour of God if there is no God. Anyone who thinks that there is no God is a fool (Psalm 14:1). You have to pray that God would reveal Himself to you. The...More
