In court

We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
2 Corinthians 5:10.

In court
Everyone will one day have to give account before Jesus Christ for what he has done and what he has left undone. Then will ensue the divine assessment of it all. This future court session will differ from every worldly form of justice.

Today some criminals escape a just punishment, because the prosecution can only penalise what is known. But no-one will be able to conceal things at the judgment seat of Christ. Even the dead will be raised for judgment.

Human judges base their verdict on the basis of proofs and the evidence of witnesses, because they did not experience the deeds themselves. The Son of God, however, whose eyes are like a flame of fire, sees all that people do.

The legal system can only sentence offences that are designated as such in the law. The divine Judge will apply another yardstick: the eternally valid Word of God that shows mankind what is good and evil.

The accused generally appear in court with a lawyer for their defence, who, despite their guilt, attempts to mitigate the sentence. Before the judgment seat of Christ there will be no defence. Those who die unreconciled to God will receive the punishment they deserve. Believers, who have obtained the forgiveness of their sins, will not be judged. They appear before the One who bore their sentence in their stead.

Today's reading: Jeremiah 27:12-22 · Romans 3:9-20

Two discouraged disciples were reasoning among themselves...

Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory? And having begun from Moses and from all the prophets, He interpreted them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
(Luke 24:26-27)

SPIRITUAL WARFARE I

When we are told to put on the whole armour of God, one thing becomes clear instantly. This is the fact that there is a God. We cannot be talking of the armour of God if there is no God. Anyone who thinks that there is no God is a fool (Psalm 14:1). You have to pray that God would reveal Himself to you. The...More
