September 25, 2015 Today's reading: 1 Corinthians 8 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Titus 3:3-5 Contrasts The battery of my wristwatch needed changing, and I had to wait behind another customer to whom the jeweller was giving particular attention - understandably, because he was buying a diamond for a special present. I was able to watch the show the salesman put on. First of all, he spread out a black cloth on the counter, then he carefully laid three or four diamonds on it with a pair of tweezers. What a contrast there was between the dark velvet of the cloth and the brilliance of the diamonds! The grace of God also shines forth against the gloomy background of our guilt. When the Bible speaks of our moral condition in the verses above, it adds the word "but" to indicate the sheer brilliance of God's grace which has come down to us who were God's enemies and in His undeserved love offers us reconciliation and forgiveness. His grace is amazing, as we learn by accepting it! We were guilty before God, but it justifies us. We were dead in sins without any relationship with God but it affords us life. God's activity does not end there. During our entire life, He takes care of us for one particular purpose: that we should get to know His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, so much better. |

Open Heavens for Saturday, December 14, 2013 by Pastor E.A Adeboye CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU? Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More |
Open Heavens for Friday, January 10, 2014 by Pastor E.A Adeboye SPIRITUAL WARFARE I When we are told to put on the whole armour of God, one thing becomes clear instantly. This is the fact that there is a God. We cannot be talking of the armour of God if there is no God. Anyone who thinks that there is no God is a fool (Psalm 14:1). You have to pray that God would reveal Himself to you. The...More |
Open Heavens for Thursday, July 10, 2014 by Pastor E.A Adeboye SATAN INTIMIDATES When Goliath came to the battlefield, he took the form of a big problem but he later became a big opportunity. He came as a mighty obstacle but turned into a mighty door of opportunity when God stepped in. Every giant who stands in your way this season shall become a door to your breakthrough in Jesus' Name. The...More |
