For nine days and nights the doctor kept a close watch over his seriously ill patient. Finally the high fever was overcome. When she regained full consciousness, an Indian nurse told her how the doctor had taken care of her. "Why did he do that?" she asked. "After all, I am an Indian woman, and he is a white man. My own people cast me out, and he brought me here and gave me my life back. Why did he do that?" - "It is the love of Christ that made him act like that," replied the nurse.

"What's that, the love of Christ?" questioned the patient. "I've never heard of it. What do you mean?" It took many days for the sick woman to grasp who Jesus Christ is and what He had done for her out of infinite love.

She gradually realised that she had to make a decision: should she give up the heathen belief in spirits that had caused her nothing but fear and suffering? Should she receive Jesus Christ into her life as her Saviour and Lord?

When she was talking to the spiritual leader of the mission station about this decision, the doctor who had rescued her entered the room unexpectedly to see how she was. Her face brightened, and she turned to the missionary and said to him, "If Jesus Christ is like this doctor, then I'll trust Him for evermore."

"Jesus of Nazareth went about, doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him." (Acts 10:38).
