Centuries ago two rulers...

Go away for now; when I have a convenient time, I will call for you.
Acts 24:25.

Centuries ago two rulers mobilised their armies. The general of one of the armies sent a messenger to the ruler of the other land with the order to surrender unconditionally. The reply was: "I'll think about it!"

When the general received the reply, he told his staff: "Let him think about it. While he is thinking we shall march!" The neighbouring land was soon defeated, and the ruler taken captive. How he must have regretted only thinking about it! Now it was too late!

Today many people are deceived by the devil, who tells them, "You have plenty of time to think about eternity and your soul's salvation. You needn't hurry." And people listen to him and wait, thinking they needn't hurry. While they take their time, one day passes after another, and suddenly it is too late.

People postpone thinking about death and eternity, and also about God and how they can be saved. Consequently, the end of their life gets nearer and nearer, unnoticed, inexorably and inevitably. The Bible warns us: "Today, if you will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts" (Hebrews 3:15), and also "He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy" (Proverbs 29:1).

Jesus Christ lovingly cared for the city of Jerusalem and its inhabitants. Yet He had to say, full of pain and sadness,

"How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing" (Matthew 23:37).

Today's reading: Jeremiah 36:1-15 · Romans 8:1-11

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More

Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent. For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read...More
