The invisible helmsman

They cry to the LORD in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distresses.
Psalm 107:28.

The invisible helmsman
Daniel's liability to become violent had caused his family many a problem. He had a passion for the sea. He started working on a fishing trawler and was at home on the high seas for some years. His colleague Tom often tried to talk to him about Jesus Christ, but Daniel was very resistant.

One night a violent storm broke out on the open sea. Daniel was standing on the bridge with Tom. The best solution would be to sail to the nearest port as quickly as possible. But an enormous wave swept over the bridge, and Tom was flung into the raging water.

Owing to such elements being unleashed it was totally impossible to find Tom. Daniel had to hold desperately on to the rudder to reach the coast. For hours he struggled with the powerful elements, trying to discover a gleam of light in that pitch black night. The cold froze him, and the foam whipped his face. Daniel was at the end of his tether. Then he did what he would never have thought possible: he cried out, "God, help me!"

Daniel recalled those moments in these words: "Something strange happened then. The rudder was easier to handle, as if a powerful fist had gripped it, and the boat easily changed its direction. Then the wind dropped, and the ship was in the channel to the port. I then knew that God Himself had come to my aid."

Daniel's life changed fundamentally. He loved to speak of the invisible helmsman, who had guided him to the harbour, and also of Tom who had spoken to him about Jesus the Saviour. How happy Daniel was consequently leading his life with Christ!

Today's reading: Lamentations 5:1-22 · Psalms 46:1-11

OF KEYS AND DOORS

Every apartment or compartment with a lock has its key. It takes a key to open the gate of a house and several keys to enter the house its rooms. If you have fridge, car or wardrobe, you will equally have their keys. From the foregoing therefore, it is apparent that several good things with value have their...More

APPLY THE KEY

Every blessing worth its salt requires a key without which the seeker cannot access it. While some people have never experienced open doors, others once did, but the doors hitherto opened to them have been shut. In
