The register of sins gets longer and longer...

Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow.
Isaiah 1:18.

"The register of sins gets longer and longer." This was a newspaper headline. What was meant were erroneous decisions and negligence by the government, as the opposition maintained rightly or wrongly.

It is striking that the old word "sin" was used, although when applied to morals or an individual's way of life it is avoided nowadays. If used at all, "sinning" generally signifies the failure to adhere to dieting regulations.

Here an entire register of sins was mentioned. If the reproaches against the politicians were justified, the next election would give citizens the opportunity to take action. For one or other mismanagement a hearing before an inquiry committee might be necessary.

That we are responsible for our wrongdoing applies not only to politics or professional life but to our whole life. That may be unpleasant for many; so they banish God and the concept of sin from their thinking. That, however, in no way alters the existence of God or our responsibility before Him.

Whoever suppresses his faults will have no standing before God's judgment throne. There only those who have disclosed and confessed their register of sins during their lifetime will be accepted. They then learn that our great God is a God of love and forgiveness. Because Jesus Christ, God's Son, atoned for their guilt through His death on the cross, all who believe on Him are cleansed from their sins and will be pronounced free.

Today's reading: Leviticus 4:1-12 · Psalms 49:12-20

NEW LIFE IN CHRIST

There is a nature that is of the Earth and there is a nature that is of Heaven. Since the fall of man, the earthly nature of man has become corrupted and therefore is greatly under the influence of the kingdom of Satan. Characteristic features of this nature are: wickedness, moral perversion - sodomy and all sorts of...More
