Our great High Priest

We do not have a high priest who cannot sympathise with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 4:15.

Our great High Priest
The Son of God became true Man - just like ourselves (ch. 2:17). His goodness and sympathy are the impressive proof of this. Yet there are people who take this truth to propagate the false doctrine that He took on our sinful nature and was able to sin. It is therefore extremely important that we keep to the clear teaching of Scripture on this point.

The apostles Peter, Paul and John all comment identically on this subject, but with different emphasis and according to their own personality.

As a man of action, Peter presents Christ as an example for the believer's walk, describing Him as the One "who did no sin" (1 Peter 2:22). The Lord Jesus never committed a single sin. For a true Christian that is an irrefutable fact. None of His accusers could convict Him of sin (John 8:46). And Pilate confirmed His innocence three times (Luke 23:4.15.22).

Paul, on the other hand, was a thinker who knew Scripture. His testimony of Christ is: "who knew no sin" (2 Corinthians 5:21). This conclusion goes further than that of Peter. It shows that all Christ's thoughts and motives were sinless without exception.

Finally, John, who was best acquainted with Jesus of the twelve, could write: "Sin is not in him" (1 John 3:5). Christ was sinless in His essence. He was the true meal offering, in which there was no leaven (Leviticus 2:11).

Today's reading: Leviticus 14:1-13 · Psalms 60:6-12

SUBSTITUTION

"The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead. "

At oftentimes, if a particular incident that has been slated against the righteous must surely be carried out, God gives the captor...More
