Today's reading: 1 Corinthians 16

I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Psalm 41:4; 1 John 1:9

The subject of the address was: Jesus Christ and faith in Him. Afterwards, a young man approached the preacher and complained: "You are brainwashing people. Can you really prove that there is a God?" The preacher was silent for a moment. Then he said, "Yes, under one condition." - "And what is that?" - "That you personally open your life truly before God."
The young man looked at the preacher astonished. But then he surprised the preacher: he did not start discussing, but told him his sad story, how he had taken to drugs and obtained money for the dealer by burglary and theft. He poured out the woe of his life.
Finally, the two retired to a quiet corner and prayed together. They brought the oppressive burden before God in an unreserved confession. The young man was then able to accept joyfully the good news of the gospel, that Jesus Christ had died for him and that God forgave him all his guilt.
A radiance came over his pale face and he thanked God from the depths of his heart. Then he declared, "And now I'll go to the police and put things properly in order."
The young man had come to know the living God. For him knowing the truth was like breathing fresh air. He now wanted to set his life on a fresh course. God had revealed Himself to him. He had proved His existence!

YOU CAN BE HIS WITNESS

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More

...when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem...
Luke 2:45

We might as well face it, strife has even infiltrated our church life. It is true enough that the Church is now the Church militant. But, as such, its warfare ought to be that of dedication to revealed truth and divine...More
