Whoever says, “I know God”...

They profess to know God, but in works they deny him.
Titus 1:16.

Whoever says, "I know God" should be aware of the responsibility he bears. He has stated in fact, "I know that He is my Creator and has given me life and the possibilities that life offers, and can and will take them away again. He has the right to judge me and decide my fate, because He is God.

All that He does is right and good, because He is God. As God and the Creator He can justly demand that I take the responsibility for my deeds. He decides the good and the evil and has given me my conscience to distinguish these concepts. The unchangeable yardstick for them is laid down in His Word, the Bible."

Simply to say or to know that God exists is, however, not enough. Our deeds make it quite clear whether we know God or not. If we do not wish to deny Him through our deeds, our life must agree with what the Bible tells us about God and His will.

It would be entirely wrong just to push God aside through fear, for God wishes to reveal Himself lovingly to those who want to come to know Him.

Whoever truly knows God, knows that He can neither by-pass nor tolerate sin. But he also knows that God acts in grace towards all who acknowledge their guilt and call upon Him for help. God offers everyone forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Whoever believes on Him experiences God's love. He knows that God has forgiven his guilt and will guide him through life. From then on his conduct and his life will reflect the Saviour Jesus Christ.

Today's reading: Leviticus 23:1-22 · Psalms 68:28-35
