A Chinese Christian had been arrested...

When they bring you to the magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say. For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.
Luke 12:11.12.

A Chinese Christian had been arrested because of his faith and spent a long time in custody in a prison before his case was heard in court.

"Do you still believe in Christianity?" the judge asked him in an ironical tone.

"It isn't Christianity that I believe in," replied the man.

"No? Then what do you believe in?"

"I believe in Jesus Christ, in a Person, not in a religion," answered the believer.

"Stop quibbling over words," retorted the judge.

"You haven't understood me," the Christian answered. "You can close the churches, imprison or kill the Christians, prohibit religious services and even destroy Bibles - but you cannot touch Jesus Christ. He is alive for ever: He lives in my heart. You cannot remove Him from there. And if you kill me, I shall be with Him for all eternity."

That was not quibbling, but rather making an important, fine distinction!

A religion is a system of rituals and convictions, influenced by its social and cultural environment. It is also encumbered by human errors and human weaknesses.

Biblical faith, on the other hand, is a real, personal relationship with the living God and His Son Jesus Christ. It consists in knowing Christ, believing in Him, trusting Him and living for Him.

Today's reading: Leviticus 25:20-38 · Psalms 70:1-5

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
