Many people have an interest in God even...

No-one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son who is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.
John 1:18.

Many people have an interest in God even in our day and age. But who is God? And what is God like?

These are extremely important questions that affect our whole life. The answer to them reveals the sense of life.

The first and easiest way to discover something about God is in nature that surrounds us: God's own creation. If it was created, then it must bear the Creator's handwriting. And this is so: God's creation testifies not only to His greatness and power, but through its beauty, variety and plenitude points to Him distinctly.

When we behold creation, however, certain questions arise: why do plants, animals and human beings age and pass away? Is God a God of death? That cannot be! A foreign element has penetrated creation, bringing corruption and death and obscuring our view of God.

But God has not withdrawn from us. His wish was not only to show us something of His power; He wanted to declare (or: reveal) Himself, as today's text states. That was possible in one extraordinary way alone: the Son of God came down to earth. Since then people have been able to contemplate Him by reading the Bible. In Him, Jesus Christ, we become aware of who God is and what He is like.

Sin and the devil caused corruption and death in the world, separating mankind from God. But Jesus Christ gives life to all who believe in Him and leads them back to God the Father.

Today's reading: Leviticus 26:14-33 · Psalms 71:17-24

HOW PERSUADED?

In 2 Timothy 4:10, Demas - a co-labourer with Paul was floored by his love for the world. He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More

A LESSON FROM GOLIATH

At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More

Always Be Humble

Who am Ithat you have brought me this far?' 2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV 2011 Edition)
A MEMBER of parliament took his little daughter to visit Westminster Abbey. As she stood looking up at its magnificent columns, her father asked, What do you think, sweetheart?' With childlike candour she replied, I was...More

Forgive And Move On (2)

Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV

If you're wise, you'll do four things:

(1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More
