The Redeemer’s blood – its value and its effect

The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.
1 John 1:7.

The Redeemer's blood - its value and its effect
If people wish to have an orderly relationship with God, they need to have their guilt before Him redeemed in a way that meets His righteous demands. They also have to be cleansed so that they are fit for God's presence.

The simple yet so profound answer to this problem is: "The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin." At the cross He gave His life to atone for sins. By His sacrificial death Jesus Christ fulfilled God's holy claims. Now God can pardon repentant sinners and forgive them all their guilt, if it is confessed.

The blood of Jesus Christ is the only means that can cleanse mankind from the filth of sins. How does this cleansing come about? Romans 3:25 gives the answer: "By blood through faith." Each one who accepts Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and believes that His blood served to efface all his debt is washed clean of every sin.

Whoever has experienced this cleansing knows the value of his Redeemer's blood. With a grateful heart he can then join in this hymn of praise: "To him who loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and has made us kings and priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen" (Revelation 1:5.6).

Today's reading: Leviticus 27:16-34 · Psalms 72:15-20
