David, the king of Israel, wrote these...

Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head.
Psalm 69:4.

David, the king of Israel, wrote these words. Despite his high position he suffered much trouble, including the conspiracy organised by his own son Absalom. We can understand David's feelings when he lamented, "who hated me without a cause."

These words uttered by David point to Jesus Christ. He, too, was betrayed, ill-treated and killed without a cause.

The high priest's soldiers came with swords and rods to capture Him. The multitude gathered before the Roman governor Pilate shouted; "Away with this man. Crucify him!" Herod, the regent over Galilee, treated Christ despicably and contemptuously. Roman soldiers mocked Him with the purple robe and the crown of thorns. One of the criminals crucified with Christ blasphemed, saying, "If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!" Even passers-by who were uninvolved blasphemed Him. The high priests and scribes, who should have known from the scriptures who He was, derided Him.

None of these people had any reason to hate Jesus Christ. Yet the religious leaders of the nation, provoked by their envy, used their influence to stir up hatred of Jesus among many. By means of their ill-treatment and contempt people of every social stratum in the population revealed that they were enemies of God and His Son without any valid cause.

Even today nobody can produce a valid reason for his hostility towards or his rejection of Jesus Christ. Isaiah's prophecy is as true today, as it was in the Lord Jesus' time: "He is despised and rejected by men, and we hid, as it were, our faces from him; he was despised, and we did not esteem him" (ch. 53:3).

Today's reading: Joshua 8:24-35 · 1 Corinthians 7:12-24

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Bible in one year:
