Nowadays many people do not believe in...

The fool has said in his heart, There is no God.
Psalm 14:1.

Nowadays many people do not believe in God. Although they see God's creation and enjoy the wondrous harmony in nature, they refuse to accept that God created it all. They prefer taking refuge in theories on the origin of life and nature that leave God out, despite the fact that that, too, takes some believing, but not in God.

God has not given mankind up. He is patient, "not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). He still reveals Himself to everyone through creation: "Since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse" (Romans 1:20).

God also speaks to man through his conscience, that constant admonisher within us that testifies that there are moral values and laws that we cannot contravene with impunity. Our sense of right and wrong, what is noble and what is base, distinguishes us from animals.

Finally, everyone has a certain knowledge of God and a consciousness of eternity inside him. God has "put eternity in their hearts" (Ecclesiastes 3:11) and thereby made us different from every other earthly creature.

God has done all this, in order that man turns to Him so as not be judged for his sins, when "God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ" (Romans 2:16).

"Whoever is wise will observe these things" (Psalm 107:43).

Today's reading: Joshua 19:1-51 · 1 Corinthians 14:26-40

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More

Don't Lose Sight

...when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem...
Luke 2:45

We might as well face it, strife has even infiltrated our church life. It is true enough that the Church is now the Church militant. But, as such, its warfare ought to be that of dedication to revealed truth and divine...More
