Today's reading: Numbers 2:17-34

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Matthew 5:7-12

The beatitudes fulfilled in Christ (2)
Jesus was merciful. "A certain Samaritan had compassion, went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine" (Luke 10:33-34). "A merciful and faithful high priest to make propitiation for the sins of the people" (Hebrews 2:17).
He was absolutely pure. "You were redeemed with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot" (1 Peter 1:18-19).
Christ brought peace. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you" (John 14:27). "Having made peace through the blood of his cross" (Colossians 1:20).
He suffered for righteousness. "Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow his footsteps, who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth, who reviled, did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously" (1 Peter 2:22-23).
He suffered for God. "For your sake I have borne; shame has covered my face" (Psalm 69:7).
The character of the Son of God was perfect in every way. How we need to praise Him!

My times are in Your hand'Psalms 31:15 NKJV

The Psalm writes, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hand' (vv. 14-15 NKJV). As you walk with God you'll find that you spend more time waiting than you do receiving. And when you receive what you're waiting for, then...More

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
