Today's reading: Numbers 3:27-51

Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Genesis 3:1

One day, everyone will appear before God in order to account for his life, even if he did not believe in him during his life. We all bear a responsibility before God, and, if we so wish it, He reveals Himself to us.
Trust in God and His word was already shaken in the parents from whom we have descended, Adam and Eve. The devil, whom Jesus once designated as the "father of lies" , sowed distrust in their hearts. Since then, all their descendants have been susceptible to Satan's lying and have thus distanced themselves more and more from God.
The devil endeavours to make people believe, above all, that there is neither a God nor a devil. In addition, he has his particular lies ready for different age groups and types of persons.
He tells the young: "It's much too early to trouble about God. Make something worthwhile of your life and enjoy being young!"
He catches elderly people with this untruth: "It's too late now. You have led your life without God. Now, it's beyond you!"
He persuades the better classes: "God is too good to punish you. You haven't lived a bad life. So don't worry!"
He accuses outcasts: "In your state you cant approach God. You need to improve!"
He tells doubters: "The way the Bible offers salvation is much too simple to be true. If you only had to believe that confessing sins to God and believing in Jesus, how fine that would be!"
What protection have we against such lies? Only the truth that we find in Jesus Christ and the Bible, the reliable Word of God.

Not I but Christ

Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
