October 18, 2015 Today's reading: Numbers 4:42-5:11 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region. But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts. But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost. Acts 13:48-52 Thoughts on the Book of Acts (113) Many non-Jews in Antioch in Phrygia joyfully received the news that the message of salvation in Jesus Christ applied to them without any condition whatever. They praised God for it, and the message spread throughout the region. Resistance increased on the part selfish, self-righteous Jews who considered themselves robbed of their privileges. But they could not frustrate God's plan nor hinder anyone from laying hold on eternal life by faith. Some of the antagonists managed to influence distinguished women who supported Judaism and also the prominent citizens of the town against Paul and Barnabas and expel them. Yet while such were filled with envy . Their mission took them on to Iconium. (to be continued next Sunday) |

This is why in Bible in one year: Job...More |
Open Heavens for Friday, June 26, 2015 by Pastor E.A Adeboye NO FOOD FOR THE LAZY MAN Laziness is not a Christian virtue in any way. Our Lord Jesus Christ made this clear by His lifestyle of hard work while here on earth. A lifestyle of laziness is outrightly rejected in Scriptures typified by today's Bible reading. It is amazing that some people are still expecting God to rain manna on earth! It does...More |
