Thoughts on the Gospel of John (110)

Therefore the people, who were with him when he called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness. For this reason the people also met him, because they heard that he had done this sign. The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look the world has gone after him!
John 12:17-19.

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (110)
The miracles of Jesus are often called "signs" in John's gospel. This signifies that there is more to the miracle than a demonstration of supernatural ability: it is an authentication. The signs that Jesus did identified Him as the Christ, the Son of God (ch. 20:30.31). No-one could dispute that. We shall now briefly survey the seven signs of John's gospel and their meaning.

The marriage at Cana: the joy that Christ gives exceeds the greatest of earthly joys (ch. 2:1-11).
The healing of the nobleman's son: believing Christ brings blessing (ch. 4:46-54).
The healing of the paralysed man: Christ has mercy on hopeless cases (ch. 5:1-9).
The feeding of the 5,000: Christ is the bread of life for mankind (ch. 6:5-14).
The healing of the one born blind: Christ reveals His true being (ch. 9).
The resurrection of Lazarus: Christ overcomes death with life (ch. 11).
The miraculous catch of fish: Christ gathers people from all nations for their blessing (ch. 21:1-14).
In addition to these Christ did many other signs. These seven, however, are recorded "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name" (ch. 20:31).

OFFENDED IN CHRIST?

The Christian race must be run with lots of patience or else it will be bungled midway. If you are inpatient with Gods timing, you will not only get into trouble but may not be able to finish the race. A good number of backsliders derailed from their heavenly track because of impatience. In Matthew 11:6 Jesus...More

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And...

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And he sat at the tent-door in the heat of the day. And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, three men standing near him.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is one thing to receive the anointing and another to keep growing on it. There are people who had the anointing, but today, everything has virtually ebbed out. It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More
