The apostle Paul desired the...

May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.
2 Thessalonians 3:5.

The apostle Paul desired the right orientation in the hearts of the Thessalonians. This leads us to think about what we wish for ourselves and our fellow believers. Now it is the Lord Himself who fixes the direction. That gives us courage. What a joy and trust come about when my wishes for my life and for others of God's children agree with the Lord's wish and aim!

Hearts rightly orientated are needed for spiritual support and strength for our life. But the heart's desire is the decisive thing. Paul's wish was that the Thessalonians should be filled with the love of God and the patience of Christ.

It is God's love that forms that relationship with Him, that also watches over us in our lives and achieves its end, when it brings us into the Father's house, where the atmosphere of divine love prevails. His love is poured out in our hearts and becomes the source of strength and the driving force of our Christian life. Such love in the Thessalonians gave them the energy to be an example for believers and a testimony for the world.

The patience of Christ reminds us that our Lord is waiting to take us to Himself and then to appear on earth with us. Then He will receive the honour due to Him and fulfil God's purposes. Are we waiting patiently for this? If so, it will give us the right attitude to what concerns us on earth and motivate us to honour Him through our life.

The Lord will readily grant us hearts with such a purpose, if we wish it.

Today's reading: 1 Chronicles 24:1-31 · 1 Timothy 2:1-7

FALSE PROPHETS AND THEIR PROPHECIES-FOOLISH PROPHETS

The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying: Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say unto them that prophesy out of their own heart, Hear ye the word of Jehovah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow after their own spirit, and have seen nothing!...More

EVERYONE NEEDS A MIRACLE

Some years ago, I was invited to be the guest speaker at a garden party in an exclusive, highbrow residential area. Because I arrived at the venue quite early, I was made to sit for a while in the house of my host. The house was an exquisite parade of wealth and splendour. I had never seen such brazen display of...More

FOR CHRIST'S SAKE DON'T!

A negative change is generally abhorred by men. Everyone craves progress. We always desire to keep ascending the ladder of success. No one wants to make a u-turn in the journey of greatness. The greatest journey whose end has the greatest significance is the journey to Heaven. This journey is only made in Jesus...More
