The alarm clock rang...

Stand here a while, that I may announce to you the word of God.
1 Samuel 9:27.

The alarm clock rang. John jumped out of bed, showered, then hastily drank down his coffee. After three quarters of an hour in the crammed full underground train he arrived at the office. The first discussion demanded concentration, a second followed immediately. During the lunch break there were a few important matters to discuss with colleagues. Then followed two meetings with clients, reports had to be written, and he was constantly interrupted by telephone calls.

It was 8 o'clock in the evening when he finally arrived home. While he read his post and E-mails he swallowed his dinner down. Then he dropped on to the sofa and switched on the television. But he was too tired to watch the film. He went to bed and slept like a log. The alarm clock rang.

John, you really must stop rushing through life as you are doing. If you go on like that, you will reach retirement without having really lived, if your heart doesn't fail beforehand. Take your time, stop and think, so that you don't overlook what is essential. You are chasing breathlessly after a life of fulfilment without ever achieving it. Yet God would dearly give you happiness and fulfilment already now.

Read the best news in the world: discover that God loves you and has everything ready to make you happy. Open your Bible, or read it on the website.

"What will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?" (Mark 8:36).

Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 2:1-9 · 1 Timothy 6:11-21

NEGATIVE LIVING

Life comprises of positive and negative elements. As a matter of necessity, it is not good for someone to opt for negative living. The fact that Jesus Christ was destined to die for the sin of the whole world does not exonerate Judas Iscariot from the evil that led him to the idea of betraying the King of Glory....More
