Today's reading: Numbers 7:48-71

But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Luke 11:28; 2 Corinthians 10:4

The Bible of the two brothers (2)
Yesterday, we saw how simply reading the Bible had totally changed the way of life the small village of Shimmabuko on the Japanese island of Okinawa. During the Second World War, a troop of American soldiers landed and marched through the island like a hurricane. The village was on their route. Shosei and Majan went towards them in open countryside and in full view. They bowed before the soldiers smiling. An interpreter ran towards the two brothers and returned quite perplexed. "They welcome us as Christians," he told the troops. It was a strange experience for them.
The soldiers followed the two brothers and were increasingly surprised as they passed through the village. The streets and houses were clean, far different from what they had seen elsewhere. The inhabitants seemed happy and peaceful. One of the officers inquired after the reason for this different atmosphere. So Majan spoke of the Bible that the missionary had left there. He told them how the villagers had had read it and discovered Christ on its pages, whose teaching they wished to put into practice.
The officers were dumbfounded. Before they left the village, Shosei showed them the Bible that had caused the change in their life. When the Americans reached their camp, a robust sergeant suggested:"Could we be using the wrong weapons to try to change the world?"
(concluded)

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
