Our omnipresent God

Where can I go from your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence?
Psalm 139:7.

Our omnipresent God
It is in keeping with God's nature that He is not restricted to space and time. We can only be at one place at one time. And we take time to get from one place to another. That is not so with God. It is therefore impossible to run away from God. Wherever we are God sees us. Whether we are under a clear sky or deep down in a mine, whether we are in bright sunlight or in pitch darkness makes no difference to God.

God's omnipresence can be a comfort to us when we feel lonely. We wuld never succeed in fleeing from God or hiding from Him.

As a Man on earth the Lord Jesus submitted to earthly conditions. He was like us, never at more than one place at one time. He told His disciples: "I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send him to you" (John 16:7). The "Helper", the Holy Spirit, did not become a human being; although He is on the earth, He is not limited to one place. He dwells in every believer personally and is in the whole church of God. Every believer, wherever he may be on the earth, has God the Holy Spirit indwelling him.

The Holy Spirit wishes to guide us, leading us into all truth. He presents the Person of the Lord Jesus so that we glorify Him. It is up to us to live in such a way that we experience the blessed effects of the presence of the Spirit.

Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 26:16-23 · Revelation 13:1-10

Not I but Christ

Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Not I but Christ
I have heard it said, "People should be allowed to be themselves." But I can find no scriptural basis to support this statement, for freedom "to be myself" is to...More
