Today another year comes to its...

Today, if you will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.

You do not know what will happen tomorrow.

Hebrews 4:7; James 4:14.

Today another year comes to its end. In many countries it is also the end of the financial year; the books have to be balanced and will reveal whether the year has been commercially successful or not. Then comes the examination by the tax office. Was all done legally?

Another year of our life also ends today. Do we also look back and take stock of the year's activity? Was it a pleasing year, or were there disappointments? Each reader must answer the question for himself or herself.

A more relevant question is: how will God assess our past year? Will it find His approval, or not? We may be satisfied with the course it took, but the criteria of our judgment may not concur with that of our holy God.

Already in the first century the apostle Paul spoke earnestly to contemptuous men in Athens: "God now commands all men everywhere to repent" (Acts 17:30), warning them of what will meet them, when Jesus Christ presides on the judgment seat. Sadly, it made no difference to most of them; they mocked him all the more. We fear that such an attitude still prevails in many hearts.

This year has been another year of grace: God in His mercy still offers the forgiveness of sins and eternal life to all who repent and sincerely believe in the redeeming work of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. We cannot know what the New Year will be like. At the start of the year 2020 no-one imagined what havoc the corona virus would cause in the world. But by 2021 they knew only too well! Don't face eternity unsaved!

Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 36:11-23 · Revelation 22:8-21

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
