God's hands

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, measured heaven with a span and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure? Weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?
Isaiah 40:12

God's hands
I had accidentally knocked over my glass. Now the water was flowing over the edge of the table to the floor. In my embarrassment, I tried to catch the liquid with my bare hands - but in vain! Most of the water ran through my fingers. Only a fraction remained in my palms. The rest formed a puddle at my feet.

Some days my life feels very similar. I try to solve problems, correct mistakes and change adverse circumstances. No matter how hard I try, my weak, ineffectual hands can hardly make a difference. Often, I am completely helpless in the face of a situation and cannot cope with what comes my way.

But God can! With His cupped hand He is able to measure the waters of the whole earth. He is all- powerful. His hands are big enough to hold everything. When we feel powerless, we can entrust our cares and worries to our strong and wise God. He always keeps track of our lives.

Don't we want to learn afresh today to hand over our worries to Him and wait for His help? How happy our God and Father is when we put our trust in Him! He will never disappoint one of His children who takes Him at His word: "Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass" (Psalm 37:5).

Today's reading: Numbers 35:1-15, Matthew 18:1-14

HOW PERSUADED?

In 2 Timothy 4:10, Demas - a co-labourer with Paul was floored by his love for the world. He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More

A LESSON FROM GOLIATH

At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More

Always Be Humble

Who am Ithat you have brought me this far?' 2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV 2011 Edition)
A MEMBER of parliament took his little daughter to visit Westminster Abbey. As she stood looking up at its magnificent columns, her father asked, What do you think, sweetheart?' With childlike candour she replied, I was...More

Forgive And Move On (2)

Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV

If you're wise, you'll do four things:

(1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More
