Today's reading: Numbers 15:22-41

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
1 John 3:4

Whoever has got into difficulties and cannot solve them, whoever cannot say "No" to alcohol, or has marital problems can visit a trained counsellor. Many have done so. One such counsellor wrote in a report on her work: "Many want to know whether other people have the same trouble. They ask us if it is a common thing. They feels as if they were the first to have their particular problem."
To get to the root of the problem, let us consult the Word of God. The basic trouble for us all is sin, in whatever form it occurs in the individual. Many are so bogged down in the swamp of their guilt that curing the outward symptoms is of little help.
If "sin" really has such decisive effects on our whole life, then it is necessary to come to grips with the term itself. Its meaning is simply: straying from the right pathway, and missing the mark. God has designated a way for us human beings and given us His commandments. He wants us to love Him with all our being and our neighbour as ourselves. But of himself, no-one asks after God and His will, and that is just what the Bible terms "sin" and "lawlessness" (cf. . That is, unfortunately the common practice. And unless the matter is rectified before God, all face a lost eternity after judgment.

A good number of backsliders derailed from their heavenly track because of impatience. In Matthew 11:6 Jesus...More

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And...

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And he sat at the tent-door in the heat of the day. And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, three men standing near him.
(Genesis 18:1)

The spiritual elevation of Abraham in Genesis 18 and 19 is something very peculiar. He seems...More

THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is one thing to receive the anointing and another to keep growing on it. There are people who had the anointing, but today, everything has virtually ebbed out. It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More
