The message in the wastepaper basket

The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you who do not believe.
John 6:63–64

The message in the wastepaper basket
Every time Christoph and Anne visited their neighbours, they gave them an evangelistic flyer to read. As soon as they left, it went into the wastepaper basket. In this house, they didn’t want to know anything about God.

But the woman who did the house cleaning every week discovered the unread leaflets in the bin. She took them out and read them. God touched her heart so that she accepted the word of truth. She believed in the saving grace of God and surrendered her life to the Saviour, Jesus Christ. Thus, the gospel reached this woman by a circuitous route and saved her from eternal destruction.

God invites all people, “Look to Me, and be saved” (Isaiah 45:22), for Jesus Christ died for all. Many reject His invitation but some accept it. Thus, humanity is divided into two groups: Some do not believe God and go towards eternal destruction with the burden of their guilt. The others believe in the Lord Jesus, possess forgiveness of their sins and are on their way to heaven.

God says in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Therefore, let us continue to scatter the seed of God’s Word and trust Him to bring forth fruit.

Today’s reading: 1 Samuel 14:1-10 · Psalms 97:1-12

It may be that Jehovah will look on mine affliction, and that Jehovah will requite me good for my being cursed this day. And David and his men went by the way; and Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast...More
