My Redeemer lives!

I know that my Redeemer lives.
Job 19:25

My Redeemer lives!
The conviction that Job had in the midst of his serious illness formed the foundation of his faith: he knew that his Redeemer lived. Therefore, looking at his sick body, he could say: “And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God” (Job 19:26). In his suffering, Job possessed the firm hope that his Redeemer would one day raise him up.

This same conviction of faith can be possessed today by everyone who knows Jesus Christ as personal Saviour. His life and His death, and especially His resurrection, are confirmed by the apostle Peter: “And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree. Him God raised up on the third day and showed Him openly” (Acts 10:39–40).

To the apostle John, the Lord Jesus Himself testifies: “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death” (Revelation 1:17–18).

The Saviour Jesus Christ now lives in heaven as victor over death. Soon He will come again to raise up all who have died with faith in Him, and to transform all who live with faith in Him. Then He will rapture the resurrected and transformed believers into heaven. Thus, their hope will be fulfilled.

Today’s reading: 1 Samuel 27:1-12 · Philippians 4:15-23

NEGATIVE LIVING

Life comprises of positive and negative elements. As a matter of necessity, it is not good for someone to opt for negative living. The fact that Jesus Christ was destined to die for the sin of the whole world does not exonerate Judas Iscariot from the evil that led him to the idea of betraying the King of Glory....More
