November 27, 2015 Today's reading: Numbers 30 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Isaiah 9:2, John 8:12 A great light Who has never been in darkness and unable to distinguish his surroundings? Switch on, and the room will be flooded with light! After a moment's dazzlement everything appears almost as in daylight. A room plunged in darkness reminds us of the uncertainty and countless question assailing people who have no relationship with God. Where have we come from? Where are we heading for? What comes after death? Which religion can we trust? They have to rely on common sense, their own reason or imagination. They grope tentatively in the dark. Light flashes when we look confidently to God and His word. The source of light is not in ourselves, but it has a free, easy access. One simply has to believe God and the revelation of Him in the Person of Jesus Christ, His Son, the light of the world. Faith in Him is the only means given by God to illuminate our entire being. Then confusion, questions and theories give way to the assurance of faith. Christ gives light to whoever believes in Him. It reveals simultaneously what sin is and what God's grace and love are. This light shows up the circumstances of one's life. Death is henceforth not some obscure future event but the believer's entry into the very presence of His Saviour. Without Christ, all is gloomy and uncertain. But, as one believer has stated, "When Christ appears, all our questions are dissipated." |

He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More |
Open Heavens for Tuesday, January 21, 2014 by Pastor E.A Adeboye A LESSON FROM GOLIATH At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More |

The Word for today for Tuesday, August 12, 2020 by Bob and Debby Gass Forgive And Move On (2) Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV If you're wise, you'll do four things: (1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More |
