November 29, 2015 Today's reading: Numbers 31:25-54 And after they had passed throughout Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia. And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia: And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled. And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles. And there they abode long time with the disciples. Acts 14:24-28 Thoughts on the Book of Acts(119) Paul's first missionary journey to Cyprus and southern Galatia in what is today Turkey possibly lasted three years (46 - 49 A.D.). Then he returned to Antioch in Syria together with Barnabas. They had fulfilled the task given them by Holy Spirit. Before their departure, the Christians in Antioch had expressed their fellowship with the missionaries and commended them to the grace of God . However, there is no general or universal Christianisation of the heathen. Everyone must enter this door for himself. (to be continued next Sunday) |

In the physical realm, mere movement requires strength. This explains why a sick person or a person just recovering from an ailment finds it...More |

Here, for example, death struck a man suddenly for lying before God. Is God therefore severe, when he makes use of His power unreservedly towards the weak? Let us first briefly examine what preceded this judgment. Holy zeal for the...More |
