Our God and Father

For the Father Himself loves you.
John 16:27

Our God and Father
How good are all those who have become children of God through faith in the Lord Jesus! They have a Father in heaven who loves them.

It is the Father’s will “that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life” (John 6:40). This will was fulfilled when we accepted the Lord Jesus as our personal Saviour. Now we are saved and possess eternal life.
In John 16:23, the Lord speaks of the Father’s ear: “Whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you”. It is a great privilege that we may come before the Father in the name of the Lord Jesus and tell Him whatever is on our hearts. Every request that is according to His will, He will hear.
The Father’s hand is strong. It has taken hold of us and will not let us go. The Lord Jesus assures all the redeemed: “No one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand” (John 10:29). We cannot tear ourselves away from His hand either. He holds us tight and will bring us to our destination.
In the Father’s house there are many dwellings. Our heavenly home is there. The Lord Jesus will introduce us into His Father’s house when He comes again (John 14:2–3). Then a time of unimagined happiness will dawn for us, which will go on into eternity. We will see Jesus, understand the love of the Father, and praise Him with eternal joy.

Today’s reading: 2 Samuel 1:1-16 · Colossians 3:1-11
