The work of God

Consider the work of God.
Ecclesiastes 7:13

The work of God
People who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour can see from the Word of God how great the work of their salvation is. Today we would like to think of three aspects:

1. God has done something for us: “In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him” (1 John 4:9). Out of love to us, God sent His Son to earth as Saviour. Jesus Christ died on the cross to make the sacrifice by which we could be saved. This was God’s work for us!

2. God has worked something in us: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope” (1 Peter 1:3). Through the work of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, we who believe in the Lord Jesus were born again and received eternal life. This was God’s work in us.

3. God did something with us: “Giving thanks to the Father who has … conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love” (Colossians 1:12–13). At the moment of our salvation, God took us out of Satan’s sphere of power and brought us into the perfect position of the redeemed. This was God’s work with us.
Shouldn’t we want to thank our Saviour-God every day for what He has done for our salvation?

Today’s reading: 2 Samuel 8:1-18 · 1 Thessalonians 3:6-13

HOW PERSUADED?

In 2 Timothy 4:10, Demas - a co-labourer with Paul was floored by his love for the world. He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More

A LESSON FROM GOLIATH

At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More

Always Be Humble

Who am Ithat you have brought me this far?' 2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV 2011 Edition)
A MEMBER of parliament took his little daughter to visit Westminster Abbey. As she stood looking up at its magnificent columns, her father asked, What do you think, sweetheart?' With childlike candour she replied, I was...More

Forgive And Move On (2)

Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV

If you're wise, you'll do four things:

(1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More
