Bandwidth with God

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Matthew 7:7–8

Bandwidth with God
Telecommunications operators around the world are competing to offer newer and faster access to the Internet. It’s not just about those regions that don’t yet have the Internet; they also want to improve existing bandwidths so that private households, educational institutions and businesses can make even better use of the Internet.

However, there is one communications link that we all use too little: the bandwidth is unlimited, the package is free, and the availability of the call partner is guaranteed – seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Who do we converse with? God Himself! He listens to us: “This is the confidence we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us” (1 John 5:14). At the same time, we learn from the Bible what God desires, namely for “all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4).

But there’s even more: whoever knows God as Father receives a direct connection to Him. With this God we find, on the one hand, answers to central questions such as that of a meaningful and fulfilled life. On the other hand, God is also interested in our daily worries and difficulties.

However, the connection must first be established. This is because it has been broken since man became guilty toward God and turned away from Him. We must first acknowledge that we are guilty before God and need the Lord Jesus as our Saviour. Only then do we receive this direct and eternal connection to the Almighty God, with whom nothing is impossible.

Today’s reading: 1 Kings 2:28-46 · John 4:31-42
