Thoughts on the Gospel of John (151)

But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
John 15:26–27

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (151)
Israel’s leaders at that time would have gladly muzzled the Lord Jesus! When they realised that they could not refute His words or His miracles they feared His influence, so they led Him to the cross. “Away with this Man”! They never wanted to see or hear from this Jesus again (Luke 23:18).

Just 50 days after His death, the message about this Jesus of Nazareth began to spread all over the earth. How is this possible? We find the answer here: the Holy Spirit came to earth and endowed His disciples with power. “You shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

The Lord saw to it that His disciples, who had accompanied Him from the beginning, did not have to suffer martyrdom immediately. They were given time and opportunity to tell what they had experienced with Jesus and to bear testimony that He had risen. All this was written down in the four Gospels – inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Moreover, the Holy Spirit was also to bear witness to the heavenly glory of Christ. What no human eye has seen, the Holy Spirit communicated to the apostles. He was, after all, sent to earth by the glorified Christ. The testimony of the Holy Spirit is as genuine and lasting as that of the disciples. The four Gospels, the letters of the New Testament and the Book of Revelation belong to the imperishable Word of God. And the main subject in all the Scriptures is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Today’s reading: 1 Kings 8:31-40 · John 7:1-13

My times are in Your hand'Psalms 31:15 NKJV

The Psalm writes, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hand' (vv. 14-15 NKJV). As you walk with God you'll find that you spend more time waiting than you do receiving. And when you receive what you're waiting for, then...More

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
