December 1, 2015 Today's reading: Numbers 32:20-42 Do not fear the reproach of men nor be afraid of their insults Isaiah 51:7 "They have not set God before them" Speaking of enemies who sought his life, king David twice added this explicit statement: "They have not set God before them"(). He meant: they had disregarded God's commandments and thus not lived accordingly. In our own day, there are many people who reject any thought of God and banish Him from their thinking and planning. They refuse to admit that there is a God who knows them: He sees and hears them and take note of all they do. They do not want an authority over them, to whom they are responsible and must one day give account of their life. Such people imagine themselves to be free; in fact they are slaves of Satan, who dangles freedom before their minds. By evading their Creator's will, they are swept along by sin and self-will and often suffer the consequences painfully during their lives. To any readers who fear the contemptuous remarks of such godless person or the smart answers of those who consider themselves wise, we can only say: seek God sincerely, and you will find Him. Nature calls for our admiration of our mighty and wise Creator-God. The Bible makes Him known as the Saviour-God who desires to grant us forgiveness and salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Receive Christ into your life by faith! He will drive doubt and any fear of men out of your hearts and replace it with His peace. |

The LORD is near for Friday, October 2, 2021 by Jacob Redekop, Brian Reynolds, John van Dijk, Eugene P. Vedder Jr Not I but Christ Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. Mark 8:34 Not I but Christ I have heard it said, "People should be allowed to be themselves." But I can find no scriptural basis to support this statement, for freedom "to be myself" is to...More |
