Qualified

Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.
Colossians 1:12–13

Qualified
When an astronaut in space has to carry out a repair on the space station or on a spaceship from the outside, he first puts on a spacesuit. Without this airtight protective cover, he cannot leave the spaceship – he would die immediately. But with this special suit it is possible for him to go outside the spaceship.

In the same way, as natural human beings we could never live in heaven and in the Father’s house. As the redeemed, we know that we had to get a new nature that is fitting to God. At our conversion, He not only forgave our sins, but He also made us able to dwell in His light.

It is a great joy and a wonderful fact for us that our sins are forgiven. For this the Lord Jesus had to lay down His life on the cross of Calvary. But God the Father has done even more. He has made us qualified or suitable so that we will be able to one day dwell with Him and feel at ease. To make this possible, He has given us a new and divine nature which takes character from Himself.

God still gives this wonderful gift today to everyone who believes in His Son, Jesus Christ. If we have already experienced this personally, let us thank Him for it every day. With this life we are suited to the atmosphere of heaven.
