December 4, 2015 Today's reading: Numbers 34 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:2 Has it ever annoyed you that, of all persons in the message of the gospel, a crucified One should be preached as the Saviour and Redeemer? It is not so much the historical fact of the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ that causes offence. That is accepted with respect for the action of someone who became a great martyr. What goes against the grain is that the crucified Person should be my Lord and Saviour. But why? Simply because it offends our human pride that I should need that crucified One. It was also the case in Corinth at that time. When the apostle Paul arrived there, he found the town a prosperous one, in which the inhabitants had a high opinion of themselves and their wisdom. Therefore the Lord told him especially to take courage: "Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent"(Acts 18:9). It was precisely there that the stark contrast between the high and mighty thoughts of men and the "foolishness of the message" (ch.1, v.21) became abundantly clear. People had to climb down from their high horse, or they were beyond help. This is the point we must all come to. We must acknowledge that God knows much better than we do what was necessary for our eternal salvation and understand that the place we merited was the cross. There the Lord Jesus bore the judgment that we deserved for our sins as the substitute for all who believed in Him. That is why faith in the crucified One alone can save us. |

Open Heavens for Saturday, December 14, 2013 by Pastor E.A Adeboye CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU? Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More |
Open Heavens for Friday, January 10, 2014 by Pastor E.A Adeboye SPIRITUAL WARFARE I When we are told to put on the whole armour of God, one thing becomes clear instantly. This is the fact that there is a God. We cannot be talking of the armour of God if there is no God. Anyone who thinks that there is no God is a fool (Psalm 14:1). You have to pray that God would reveal Himself to you. The...More |

He came as a mighty obstacle but turned into a mighty door of opportunity when God stepped in. Every giant who stands in your way this season shall become a door to your breakthrough in Jesus' Name.
