A young woman worked in a Christian...

But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.
Matthew 9:36

A young woman worked in a Christian family for a while. She was very impressed by the way the mother managed to raise her children with love. That was not so easy in the small apartment. They prayed before meals and there was a comfortable atmosphere in the home. She herself suffered from the fact that her own daughter was not being raised by her, but by the child’s father.

Some years later, the young woman was asked by her old father to get him a Bible. When he died after two years in the peace of God, the Bible came to his daughter. The latter took the book in hand much later. While she was on vacation one day, she began to read it. At first she found it hard to understand how it all fitted together, but on the following days she continued to read patiently. When she got to the Book of Proverbs, it acted like a mirror to her. She discovered so many mistakes and sins in her life.

What was she to do? She dearly wanted to talk to the devout Christian woman for whom she had worked years before. Therefore, she decided to go to their church on Sunday; she would probably meet the woman there.

“That day,” she later recounted, “became the most beautiful day of my life.” The sermon she heard was about Jesus Christ, about His deep compassion and love. She felt in her heart, “This is exactly what I am looking for and what I so desperately need”.

And then she prayed, “Lord, I open my heart to Yourself.” That became the beginning of a happy life of faith.
