Real freedom

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
John 8:36

Real freedom
A motorcyclist told his story:

“Many people can’t understand why I like to ride my motorbike so much. When the weather is sunny, you ride in the open air, enjoy the breeze and feel as carefree as a boy. You leave your duties and everyday worries behind. You feel as free as a bird in the air.

But at some point I asked myself, ‘Am I really as free as I feel? Or is it always just a short-lived feeling?’ In fact, I had to admit to myself that I was repressing my problems instead of solving them. How grateful I was when I got to know real freedom. It is not a temporary feeling, but a lasting reality. Through personal faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, I have experienced that He has truly set me free. He has delivered me from my fear of death and from my indifference.

But the most important thing is that He has freed me from my guilt! It took me a long time to realise that I don’t have to carry the burden of my sins all my life. But one day a Christian explained to me how I could become free of it. Then I confessed to God everything that weighed on me: my unbelief, my stealing, my hatred and my lies – in short, everything that stood between me and God. After this confession, it was as if heavy chains fell from my heart.”

Today’s reading: 2 Kings 9:30-10:11 · John 20:11-18

NEGATIVE LIVING

Life comprises of positive and negative elements. As a matter of necessity, it is not good for someone to opt for negative living. The fact that Jesus Christ was destined to die for the sin of the whole world does not exonerate Judas Iscariot from the evil that led him to the idea of betraying the King of Glory....More
