God is love

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

God is love
We want to reflect a little on the immeasurable love of God described in today’s Bible passage:

o God loves people even though they do not want to listen to Him and deliberately turn their backs on Him. Their rebellion against Him and their transgressions have not prevented Him from taking action in their favour.
o God loves people because He is love in His essence and wants only the best for His creatures. He carried out His plan of salvation for lost people so that He could offer them eternal life.
o God loves people and has given them the greatest gift possible in the gift of His only Son. He sent His Son to earth as the man Jesus Christ and gave Him as Saviour into death.

If God has so loved us and now makes us an offer of salvation, will we not gratefully accept it?

The way to salvation is simple: whoever believes in the Son of God, who died on the cross for sinners, is not lost but has eternal life. He is no longer punished by God for his transgressions, because Jesus Christ bore the punishment for him. Instead, he is able to live his life in fellowship with God and the Lord Jesus and look forward to heaven.

The love of God addresses us today so that we may be saved through personal faith in Jesus Christ.

Today’s reading: 2 Kings 21:1-18 · 3 John 9-15

HOW PERSUADED?

In 2 Timothy 4:10, Demas - a co-labourer with Paul was floored by his love for the world. He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More

A LESSON FROM GOLIATH

At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More

Who am Ithat you have brought me this far?' 2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV 2011 Edition)
A MEMBER of parliament took his little daughter to visit Westminster Abbey. As she stood looking up at its magnificent columns, her father asked, What do you think, sweetheart?' With childlike candour she replied, I was...More

Forgive And Move On (2)

Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV

If you're wise, you'll do four things:

(1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More
