The Fall of Man (2)

In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread.
Genesis 3:19

The Fall of Man (2)
Adam and Eve’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden resulted in far-reaching negative consequences for all human beings. Both believers and unbelievers suffer the general consequences of the fall. These are therefore not a punishment for an individual’s sins.

To Eve God said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in pain you shall bring forth children” (Genesis 3:16). Every mother knows that pregnancy and the birth of a child are associated with great discomfort. Faithful women are able to put their trust in God who comes to their aid in these troubles.

God said to Adam: “Cursed is the ground for your sake” (Genesis 3:17). From that time on thorns and thistles grew, and these still have to be fought today. The cultivation of food has become arduous as a result. Even though many no longer work in agriculture, earning a living still costs many a drop of sweat. Often, the work is arduous and stressful despite developments in technology. How good it is that Christians can lean on God to help them in their professional problems!

Finally, God declared: “For dust you are, and to dust you shall return” (Genesis 3:19). Thus sickness, old age and death are also among the consequences of the fall. However, children of God believe and experience that the Lord carries them in these sufferings.

Today’s reading: Ezekiel 5:1-6:14 · Psalms 116:10-19

IS YOUR VISA READY?

Speaking of aspirations and ambitions in life, if all you can achieve on earth is for your name to enter and remain in the most important book in the universe - the Book of Life, it is worth it. On the Day of Judgment, many whose names were in earth's halls of fame will be shown the way to the eternal lake of fire...More

BE STRONG

You don't charge someone to be strong if there is no task to be performed or if pressure is not required, either for motion or putting up resistance against an opposing force. In the physical realm, mere movement requires strength. This explains why a sick person or a person just recovering from an ailment finds it...More

God often proves to be other than people think...

Acts 5:4-5

God often proves to be other than people think. Here, for example, death struck a man suddenly for lying before God. Is God therefore severe, when he makes use of His power unreservedly towards the weak?
Let us first briefly examine what preceded this judgment. Holy zeal for the...More
